About The Auction
Playing it safe is a grand route to success – while trends are hot, understanding them yields results. But trends change over time, and sometimes the biggest rewards are reserved for the innovators. In the 1960s, prevailing opinion never truly rated single malt whiskies above blends. ‘Why drink an ingredient’, the thought went, ‘when a blended scotch has combined them together into something so much greater?’. Time certainly changed that logic, and now the single malts are at the pinnacle of prestige.
So what might be coming next? The single grain whiskies, those beneficiaries of intricate machines and scientific mastery of spirit? The new make spirits, not yet tested as whiskies, but brimming with potential?
From two young spirits casks from Arran, about to come of age, to malts matured in first fill sherry and rum barrels, through to well-aged grain whisky, there is whisky here to satisfy a whole plethora of whisky palates. This, our third auction, adds some more unusual casks to the offering and invites you to go against the grain.
